New Discoveries in Alzheimer's Detection By Klein Lab

William Klein and the Klein Lab published their findings in Nature Nanotechnology on Aβ oligomers and non-invasive diagnostic imaging of early-stage Alzheimer's disease. Their article, Towards non-invasive diagnostic imaging of early-stage Alzheimer's disease, introduces a new MR imaging probe that was used to distinguish Alzheimer's disease samples from controls. The probe targets toxins that the Klein Lab had previously identified as a cause of brain cell damage leading to dementia. The probes, developed with Vinayak Dravid’s team in Materials Science, are potentially useful for evaluating the efficacy of new drugs and ultimately for early-stage Alzheimer's disease diagnosis and disease management.
