Emergency Backup -80º Freezer

The Neurobiology Department maintains a -80° freezer for backup and emergency use ONLY.  It is available to members of the department for very short-term use (i.e., for one day of inventory or moving supplies) or for emergency use if another freezer is broken.  Members of the department who abuse freezer privileges will have those privileges revoked.

 

To reserve the freezer, please visit 25Live and follow the steps below:

  1. Sign in to 25Live using your NetID and password.
  2. Find the "Quick Search" section on the lefthand side of the page, and click in the "Search Locations" bar.
  3. Type "freezer" and hit enter.  This should bring you to a page containing only the -80° freezer as a result.
  4. Click on the "PLS_Freezer" link to view the freezer's availability.
  5. At the bottom of the date you wish to reserve the freezer, click on the pad and pencil icon on the left side of the box.
  6. This will bring you to an event form where the freezer has already been selected as the location. Fill in the remaining required information (enter "1" for the Expected Head Count) and select "Save".

Please note that if someone has already reserved the freezer, you will not be able to override that reservation.  If you need the freezer in an emergency capacity and the freezer has already been reserved, please contact the Neurobiology main office in Hogan 2-160 at (847) 491-5521 or neurobiology@northwestern.edu.
